Country Laws on Ecigarette


The Ecigarettes are designed to resemble actual cigarettes or cigars, or even pipes. Most are also reusable, with replaceable and refillable parts, and some models are disposable. Due to the relative novelty of the technology and the possible relationship to tobacco laws and medical drug policies, electronic cigarette legislation and public health investigations are currently pending in many countries. The Ecigarette, however, does not contain any tobacco or produce any smoke so it does not fall under the smoking ban or other tobacco related laws. PayPal prohobited United States and Canada merchants sells Ecigarette related items, but supports China Ecigarette suppliers. Let us take a look at Country Specific Laws:  

United States - there are no restrictions placed on usage of the Ecigarette since it does not contain any tobacco and therefore does not fall under the Clean Indoor Air Act. The Electronic cigarette is legal in the United States, but may be subject to legislation at state level.  

United Kingdom - there are no restrictions placed on usage of Ecigarettes.   Switzerland - sale of nicotine-free electronic cigarettes is legal. Use and import of electronic cigarettes containing nicotine is legal.  

European Union - there are no restrictions placed on usage of the electronic cigarette.  

India - Under laws currently in existence, the use of Ecigarettes are considered legal. Under the Indian Health Law of 2006 smoking has been banned in public. This law states that smoking of tobacco in any form, whether in the form of cigarettes, cigar, beedi or otherwise with the aid of a pipe, wrapper or any other instruments is illegal. As Ecigarettes avoids the use of tobacco or any of its products it does not fall under this law and as all the contents of an Ecigarettes are legal to use in public the Ecigarette is considered legal to use at present.

Netherlands - use of the electronic cigarette is allowed but advertising of it is banned.  

Australia - there is a ban on the sale of electronic cigarette cartridges in the province of Victoria. The ban only affects the cartridges, not the actual device.  

Finland - the electronic cigarettes with nicotine-free cartridges may be sold. Sale of nicotine cartridges is currently prohibited.  

Sweden - the legal status for electronic cigarettes and nicotine-free cartridges may be sold, but nicotine cartridges are prohibited, pending authorization and EU legislation.  

Latvia - the electronic cigarettes are legal, and are sold via the internet to individuals above 18-year-old.  

Singapore - the sale and import of electronic cigarettes, even for personal consumption, is illegal.   

South Korea - the sale and use of electronic cigarettes are legal. Possessing electric cigarettes among teenagers is a problem.   

China - the sale and use of electronic cigarettes are legal. However, the low street price of tobacco cigarettes makes e-cigarette an expensive alternative.

Denmark - the sale of electronic cigarettes is legal, but there is a ban on the nicotine cartridges themselves.
